Peter Asher, the author Joe Viglione and Lady Carolyn Sharp-Heggarty of the band Love and Flame
Peter Asher blessed the packed house at the Regent Theater, Arlington MA, with rock and roll stories from his living with Paul McCartney in the early 60s to co-producing the new Barbara Streisand album. Rare photos of McCartney then, and with Streisand now, as well as other unique shots from Barbara’s recent sessions, were just a continuous buffet of valuable rock and roll memorabilia. A key moment was a video of Gordon Waller with Peter and the band backing his partner from the duo, Peter and Gordon.
Keyboardist Jeff Alan Ross was in the last remnants of Badfinger, and from the web: Ross is a multi-talented guitarist and keyboard player. He’s the Musical Director for Peter Asher (Peter and Gordon). He also co-produces with Peter their weekly Beatles radio show “From Me To You” on Sirius/XM. When the band played Badfinger’s Day after Day, the crowd went wild, as they did for a rendition of Linda Ronstadt’s “Blue Bayou.” Stories of how Del Shannon allowed Peter and Gordon to record “I Go to Pieces,” the story of “Lady Godiva” (the follow-up, “Knight in Rusty Armor” was not played,) “Woman,” “A World Without Love,” “Nobody I Know,” and other songs and rock and roll tales were respectfully listened to with the appetite of a group of college students (resplendent in gray hair) listening attentively as one attendee said “like a course in Rock and Roll.” It was.
“To Know Him is to Love Him” with the full band, much grander than Phil Spector’s original with his Teddy Bears in the 50s, and talk of Spector and Apple Records and so much more. Cruise around YouTube to get more interviews with Peter and performances.
